You can say all the right things for the right reasons, but if you’re talking to the wrong people it’ll never get heard
Your product or services may be the next best thing, but if nobody knows about it then your business will struggle to get sales and attention. So, you need to get your voice heard, and your company name out there. But how do you gain that press coverage? Here are some helpful tips from Elaborate to help you get that media coverage you want:
- Write an authentic, newsworthy press release. Keep it upbeat and to the point, with a clear introductory paragraph, the most important information first and follow the 5 W’s – what, who, when, where and why’. Also, including an image will hugely increase your engagement; according to Jeff Bullas, a Top 50 Social Media Power Influencer “articles with images get 94% more total views”.
- Research the right reporters. There’s no point emailing your press release to journalists who won’t even glance at your story. Take the time to find the publications that are associated with your business sector or local area. Then send the press release to the specific person (not just email@example.com).
- Shout about your story! Use your social media tools to let your audience know and share your story; Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn, Google+, etc. Also, change the press release into a blog post and post it on your website.
